Juan Yruela, architect, for a new type of conscious construction.

Interview with Yruela Castillo. Architect.

To return to humanity something that has been taken from it in the last century: the treasure of knowledge about the codes that govern the energy of our living spaces. Something known and used since ancient civilizations, not for aesthetics or whims, but because they understood its great importance in human life and development. According to Juan Yruela, a trained architect with extensive experience in this field,

"Today we have the information and knowledge to begin a new era of energetically vibrant buildings with the power to recharge us."

VMM. Given that most people are unaware of the significant influence our homes and living spaces have on our health and well-being, let's imagine I've just bought a plot of land and want to build a house, or perhaps renovate an existing one. What's the difference between hiring an architect with current architectural knowledge and hiring an architect like you, trained in geobiology and other ancestral wisdom?

The difference is subtle, but profound. I myself practiced conventional architecture for 10 years before my trip and stay in China completely changed my understanding of architecture. Until then, architecture was simply a pursuit of functionality and beauty, creating practical and pleasant spaces for the home's inhabitants. Behind this view of architecture, there is no consideration of the energetic dimension of the home's inhabitants or the location of the house.

Behind the architectural knowledge of master builders, Feng Shui, and Geobiology lies the understanding of the house as an energetic container with which its occupants will synchronize. It is the house tailored to the needs of the person and the place.

From this perspective, the place speaks to you and tells you which locations are most appropriate for the house, avoiding points of excessive energy activation and geopathic stress that could harm you. The Sun, through the Solar Chart, provides definitive clues to understanding sacred geometry and allows you to construct an energetic container based on dimensions that resonate with the location and each season.

Each person's energy chart reveals their energetic strengths and weaknesses, enabling the design of a home with the most suitable orientation, where each room vibrates with the energy the individual needs.

All this knowledge can be complemented with biocompatible design strategies, based on natural materials and installations that do not interfere with a healthy and balanced habitat.

From my humble point of view, outside of this conception of architecture, there are only unhealthy and standardized buildings that say nothing about those who inhabit them.

VMM. Why was it in the past that people were so precise in choosing the orientation of a house, or controlling the flow of groundwater, among other key points, and now all this is either unknown or considered unimportant?

In ancient times, the main buildings were “sacred.” A cathedral, a pyramid, or a temple could not be located just anywhere or conform to any proportions. It was necessary to know the best area and the exact point where the construction would be located. From there, months were dedicated to studying the movement of the sun and the patterns of light and shadow in each season of the year, which allowed them to understand the sacred modules.

These modules determined the "sacred cubit," or basic unit of measurement for the entire building's construction. This cubit adhered to sacred and golden proportions, ensuring that the resulting volume or container conformed to the mathematical and geometric laws of the cosmos and nature.

To give you an idea, before building a city, the Romans would let their livestock graze on the chosen site for a year. Shortly afterward, they would slaughter some of the animals to study their entrails, and if these were of a suitable size, they would begin construction of the city.

Today, this type of planning is within our reach and can be applied to our buildings to make them "sacred." Unfortunately, standardization, time constraints, and mass construction make it nearly impossible to apply these valuable techniques to modern construction.

Transcendent architecture as a union with the infinite.

VMM. How did you go from being a typical "architect" to an architect specializing in Feng Shui and geobiology, as well as other essential disciplines for creating a habitat that promotes health?

It was chance (or perhaps causality) that led me to China after I left my profession in Spain. Something wasn't right, and despite being a brilliant architecture student and designing many interesting and beautiful buildings, I always felt that something was missing.

Life, with its magic, took me to China, where I discovered a way of building that integrated knowledge of Astrology, Classical Chinese Medicine, and ancient Chinese philosophy in the form of Feng Shui (very different from what has reached the West in the form of marketing).

At that moment, design became a therapeutic element, transforming people's homes into spaces of rejuvenation.

Later, the training and practice of geobiology was added to this, which made it possible not only to design energetically healthy spaces, but also to avoid potentially harmful places or to take advantage of the energetically favorable points that the Earth offers us throughout its entirety.

VMM. Does energy harmonization refer to the energy within a home? Is it possible to control or make the energy of our workspace or home positive for our well-being and overall life?

Energy harmonization seeks to transform the spaces where we live into balanced and healthy places. To achieve this, energy must be studied on three levels:

  • The level of the people who live in the home. Each person, with their unique energy "passport," requires a specific type of space for rest and daily life.

  • The level of the surrounding environment, which determines the type of vibration and the possible presence of harmful elements, from geopathic stress to disturbances in electromagnetic fields.

  • The level of the home itself, studying the layout, geographical orientation, the placement of beds, sofas, or workspaces, as well as the decor, materials, and overall interior atmosphere.

  • By studying energy at these three levels, we can seek perfect synchronization that works in favor of each person's individual energy needs, creating an energetic container where each person can recharge and empower themselves.

In this context, the ideal case I usually encounter in my profession is that of people who choose this type of energy harmonization project, starting with the conscious selection of the plot of land, then placing the house in the ideal location, giving it the optimal orientation and dimensions that allow for the creation of an energetic container or "sacred" building that resonates with the place and its inhabitants.

Choosing the plot of land as a conscious decision is a key point.

VMM. There is a lot of information about the influence of certain minerals, such as tourmaline or amethyst. Is this true?

Minerals, as a material part of the Earth, have energetic properties, and their study over millennia has allowed us to understand them.

Simply analyzing a person's biofield is enough to directly observe the influence of holding a simple mineral and its effect on our energy field.

In this sense, minerals can be used as harmonizing, protective, or neutral energy-creating elements, and can be combined as if they were medicinal elements.

In my professional practice, they are a common element in my harmonization projects, used to balance and harmonize energetic environments, combined with shielding elements (protections against harmful fields), plants, or other elements.

VMM. Feng Shui is treated in the West as something exotic and even whimsical. Why is it considered ancestral wisdom in the East, while in the West it's irrelevant at best?

The problem arises when we try to understand something so profound and complex from a Western perspective. Feng Shui is an ancient knowledge rooted in Taoism, Classical Chinese Medicine, and Chinese Astrology, which, in order to be understood in the West, ends up being reduced to magic formulas, superstition, and marketing elements with the sole aim of attracting good luck.

One only needs to immerse oneself in Chinese culture for a few years, begin to understand the language, the worldview, and the sources, to realize the complexity of these concepts, the care their interpretation deserves, and the need for constant supervision and guidance from masters (preferably those who have drawn from the original sources) to even begin to grasp these concepts.

This is also a product of the speed of the West, which seeks quick solutions and universal formulas that do not exist in Feng Shui, which considers each person unique in their energetic dimension.

VMM. Ancient buildings, such as cathedrals or Romanesque churches, are much more than just religious gathering places, according to scholars of these ancient structures. What are your thoughts on the knowledge hidden within these buildings and how we can recover this wisdom to use it for the betterment of today's society?

These ancient buildings are veritable codices and books of knowledge, especially those from the late Romanesque period. The mere existence of these buildings reveals not only the application of mathematical formulas and sacred proportions in their geometric compositions, volumes, and decorations, but also demonstrates the existence of sacred sites with a special energy.

In fact, the gathering of people for religious services was used to help activate the places where these temples were located.

This demonstrates that even in the times of the first humans, there was already a sensitivity to place and the ability to detect locations with special energies. It is a sensitivity we possess, but which has simply been dulled by the constant noise of our lives.

VMM. We would like you to add anything you believe is necessary and important to consider in order to achieve a more conscious living environment.

I think the most important thing that has been said is the understanding that there is something more behind matter and that we are pure vibration and energy. It is always said that we are 75% water, but the truth is that behind every atom that makes up our body, there is 99% emptiness, which is pure vibration that synchronizes with the environment in which we live.

In this new way of seeing our existence, the need to live in sync with the sun, circadian rhythms, and to surround ourselves with an environment as close to nature as possible is emphasized. The Earth alerts us to the most suitable places to live, but we have to know how to find them, listening to our bodies and paying attention to the signals.

Fortunately, today we have the information and knowledge to begin a new era of energetically vibrant constructions with the power to recharge us. We just have to want to apply it.

Thanks.
